This was the crowning achievement of our entire trip. We had in our possession, a first printing, first edition copy of A Game of Thrones. In order to get the opportunity to have George R. R. Martin sign it, first we had to get up early in the morning and join a long line that would draw lots from a bag. The first time through the line we failed. However, we were allowed to go to the back of the line for a second chance. By the time we got to draw again there were just a scant few paper slips left. We were told there might be just one or two opportunities left. We each drew one slip. The first was blank, but on the second was the mark making us to be one of the few that would be allowed to get an autograph!
